A Night of Collaborative One-Acts

“Anyone For A Swingin’ Threesome?” is an anthology work of three short one-act plays. “Questions of the Queen” presents a world where a vapid socialite rules with an iron fist, demanding the love and attention of her subjects. For her birthday, she wants to affirm that love, but instead is faced with the truth. “Trials” tells the tale of a man determined to prevent his girlfriend from breaking up with him through science! “Park Slope Cassoulet” is a look at cultural warfare and hypocrisy, as the entrenched populace go to insane lengths to rebel against the influx of family oriented newcomers. This is the culmination of a yearlong project where three playwrights were elected by audience members and commissioned by Just ASK to each develop a piece.

Auditions: Tuesday, October 19th from 12:30pm-5pm & Wednesday, October 20th from 12:30pm-7pm

Rehearses Oct. 23, 2010-Dec. 5, 2010; runs Dec. 6, 13, 20, & 21 at 8 p.m. at the Kraine Theater in NYC (85 E. 4th St.)

Lydia: late 20s-early 30s, anti-gentrification blogger

Mark: mid-to-late 20s, Lydia’s slacker husband

Jeanne-Anne: late 20s-early 30s, Southern Wall Street lesbian gentrifier

Miles: 20s, a sweet mad scientist

Judith: 20s, Miles’ librarian girlfriend

Queen Cindy: 18, beautiful, spoiled

Victoria Yazbek: 25, brash grad student

Justin Zizmor: early 20s, Cindy’s hot and sleazy producer/boyfriend

Nick Witman: 20s-40s, construction worker

Soldier: intimidating bodyguard

This Sh*t is Bananas!

I’ve got frozen chocolate-covered bananas to give you on Monday, leg-warmers on Tuesday, and White-Russians on Saturday.

September is Arrested Development month, and in celebration we are opening the Knitting Factory Banana Stand! Free frozen bananas (w/ chocolate and nuts) on sticks, just like the Bluth’s…while supplies last! Eat em while we watch the greatest episodes from each season.

During the series you can expect some live A.D-themed fun, like: The Nevernudes, an Arrested Development band. And live magic tricks gone wrong in honor of everyone’s favorite illusionist, Gob! And DJ Fangbat will spin A.D related tracks!

And there are many new cartoons, including my favorite, the Wacky Races. It’s a car race starring Dasterdly and Muttley, and we’ve been gambling on the races, Kentucky Derby style. FUN!!

One Night Stands V: The Contest

This Sunday, at the Irish Rogue (356 West 44th Street between 8th and 9th Avenue) at 7PM is our fifth One Night Stand. Formats mostly the same, playwrights presenting original work in a casual format, musical acts, raffle prizes, $5 cover, and a 2 drink minimum, but this time the audience will be voting on their favorite piece! In that the audience will have a voice in Just ASK Productions’ next full production “Anyone for a Swingin’ Threesome?”, because we will include a piece by the winning playwright in our show.

Come, check out some short pieces, have some drinks, and influence the future of extremely low budget theater!
